A declaration of love
An ode – we can’t help it
We at Möbelwerk pay tremendous respect to Artisan, this workshop in Tešanj, in the picturesque North Bosnian hill country, characterized by traditions and entrepreneurial spirit, which creates solid wood furniture that goes far beyond its function; which has fantastic craftsmanship and technical possibilities and an incomparable sensitivity for the natural material wood; who writes design history with her clear, timeless design language, but more than that:
This is where furniture such as organisms, works of art, whose shapes and materials breathe, breathe life into the rooms, create quality of life, can be felt in the body and mind.
Artisan started in a garage: in the 1970s, Fadil Ćostović's grandfather set up his carpentry in Tešanj. In 2007, Fadil, together with entrepreneur Dražen Poznanović, turned it into a design brand – with ten people. Today there are over 250, and around 70% of each piece of furniture is still made by hand.
Most of the types of wood used, walnut, oak, ash and cherry grow in the area. It is designed, above all, by the local Regular Company, but also by well-known designers from all over Europe.
What makes this workshop unique in Tešanj is this natural connection to the qualities of the material wood, this clear vision of a contemporary, clear design language, the craftsmanship. Edges flattered by hand, the most demanding carpenter connections, breathing surfaces that invite you to touch.
The illustrations shown give a good impression of the furniture, but the effect they have in physical presence, in feeling, in caressing cannot be described on a screen.
